APPSA North America is the official alumni association for former students of Archbishop Porter Girls’ Secondary School residing in the United States and Canada. Established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2024, our mission is to foster meaningful connections among alumni while supporting initiatives that benefit our alma mater in Ghana.
The association’s roots trace back to 2018, when a group of former students met at a fellow Appsan’s child’s funeral. Touched by the moment and recognizing their numbers, they decided to form an alumni network to stay connected and support one another. What began as an informal group of 40 women engaging in occasional meet-and-greets soon grew into a more organized community.
By 2020, the group saw a significant increase in participation through WhatsApp, leading to a renewed sense of purpose and direction. An official letter was sent to the National APPSA Office expressing the intention to establish a recognized North American chapter. With approval granted, APPSA North America was formally inaugurated in 2021.
Today, APPSA North America is a vibrant network of over 200 active members. We maintain active engagement through platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp, where members share updates, organize events, and support each other personally and professionally.
We also meet every first Saturday of the month via Zoom for an engaging time of connection, learning, and empowerment.
Each session is filled with informative talks and training opportunities, Fun and interactive activities.
We motivate business showcase segments, where members highlight their businesses as we encourage support for sisters in business, fostering a strong spirit of community and collaboration

As a nonprofit, our association is committed to giving back. One of our core goals is to provide financial and developmental support to Archbishop Porter Girls’ Secondary School, ensuring that future generations of students can benefit from enhanced educational opportunities.
